The focus of the 2016 Deepwater Exploration of the Marianas expedition is to continue 2015 work to acquire baseline information in deepwater areas in the Pacific. During this expedition, we will focus on exploring the Northern Mariana Islands and the Marianas Trench Marine National Monument region.
We will be exploring hydrothermal vent sites, mud volcanoes, trench/subduction zones, seamounts, and the organisms that inhabit these incredibly unique environments. We hope that you will use the education resources provided here, including the Exploring Live lesson, to get your students closer to the deep ocean than they have ever been before.
