Ocean Exploration 2020: A National Forum: 2013 Materials
On July 19-21, 2013, NOAA and the Aquarium of the Pacific co-hosted Ocean Exploration 2020: A National Forum, bringing together ocean explorers to help define the future of ocean exploration. We will post materials from the 2013 forum event as they become available, including presentations, photos, and follow-up reports and products.
The Report of Ocean Exploration 2020: A National Forum
Participants in Ocean Exploration 2020 were challenged to identify key characteristics of a national program of ocean exploration in 2020. This report is a record of the forum, where participants described ocean exploration as a great opportunity, an urgent necessity, and an issue of national security.

Pre-Forum Survey Results
Prior to the start of Ocean Exploration 2020, invited attendees were asked to complete a series of surveys. The summary of these survey results (pdf, 2.4 Mb) served as the basis for discussions on July 20.
Members of the online community were also invited to provide input prior to the forum; this feedback (pdf, 69 kb) from the public was also reviewed.
Google+ Hangout Virtual Breakout Sessions
In order to allow the online community to participate in Ocean Exploration 2020 breakout discussions, the Aquarium of the Pacific hosted a virtual breakout sesssion via a Google+ Hangout, moderated by Chris German, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
Additionally, the Online Ocean Symposium hosted a Google+ Hangout with several Ocean Exploration 2020 participants, to discuss the future of ocean exploration. You can access a highlight reel from this hangout here.
