The Seasnap-360 is a unique rotary time-lapse camera that observes life on the bottom even when ROVs can’t be there. For maximum flexibility the cameras deployed during the Expedition to the Deep Slope have an autonomous recovery system. An acoustic signal sent from the surface causes an electrical current to burn the wire holding the anchor. The weight drops away and the Seasnap-360 heads for the surface.
