Bathymetry flythough of the Ngatoro Rift Basins in the backarc area, approached from the southwest heading northeast. The basin is > 3300 meters deep. Additional multibeam mapping in the area will take place during the NZASRoF’07 expedition, as well as water column CTD casts and tows to search for hydrothermal activity in the area. The bathymetry data are 2.5 times vertically exaggerated. Multibeam bathymetry, provided by GNS and JAMSTEC is overlaid on satellite altimetry data (Smith and Sandwell).
