An example of the striking vertical topography at the Sponge Cliff dive site, which is home to wreckfish as well as many rare invertebrates, such as slit shells (familyPleurotomariidae). When this site was originally observed from the Navy's NR-1 submarine, there were sponges growing from the overhanging ledge at the top of the vertical wall, hence the name.
