Intensive Ash Production at Prometheus Vent, West Mata Volcano
Prometheus vent lies about 100 meters (330 feet) northeast of Hades vent at the summit of West Mata volcano, at a depth of 1,177 m (3,860 ft). It was constantly active during the times the Jason remotely operated vehicle (ROV) was at the site, often showering the ROV with volcanic ash.
