At Daikoku volcano we came upon a convecting, black pool of liquid sulfur with a solidified sulfur crust (shown in the bottom image). Gases, smoke, and liquid sulfur bubbled up from the back edge of the sulfur pond. The top image shows a zoomed-in view of the liquid sulfur extruding from a fracture in the solid crust.
