This chimney has the highest temperature of any we sampled in the Lost City fields. It is venting fluids at about 91º C and has the most pristine fluids of any we sampled. In other words, these samples have the most amount of hydrothermal fluid without any mixing of seawater. These images were recorded in 2003. Video courtesy of University of Washington.
