it is not well known except by a few fishermen; it is not located on any published maps; and it has never been confirmed as a ship wreck
until now
Off the Outer Continental Shelf of North Carolina today, an ROV was deployed to find an isolated yet unidentified feature nicknamed by commercial fishermen as the Snowy Wreck. The ROV is remotely operated from a van that sits atop the research vessels aft deck. Sonar images from the van confirm that the feature is indeed a ship wreck. Video images taken from the ROV itself provide details to reveal that this was a steel-hulled vessel with an ornate rail and a single mast amidship Now a permanent part of the underwater world, a dense growth of anemones and other invertebrates cover the ships hull.
